Draft of Choice

CHOICE.

prologue

She dug and dug. Tossing occasional stray rocks and pebbles. Her fingernails stained by the earth while droplets of her tears dotted the uneven ground.

“Please be here. Please. This is all I have. You promised. Please.” She sobbed.

But she couldn’t find it. She didn’t give up though. She kept on digging until she couldn’t dig nomore. Hours and hours has passed until finally the streaks of dawn rose in the distant. She stop, hunched over and howled. “No.” After all that has happened. It was all for nothing. He promised it would be here. HE PROMISED! Then she kicked a rock.

She cursed over her stub toe. While she nurse her swollen toe, a little box in brown peeking trough the soil managed to caught her eye. She scrambled and picked up the tiny box with her now weak and weathered hands. She had no energy left after digging half the night away. But what was important was he came trough. She took the key dangling on her neck and opened the box tentively. She had to admit she was scared of what she would find.

All she saw was a delicate gold chain and a letter signed in aqua blue ink. Her favourite colour. She put on the fragile chain and continued on reading the letter.

After she was finished, she dropped the letter and sobbed into the ground. Salty tears slopping down onto the ground. She curled into a ball and shed tears of sorrow until her sister found her on the ground later that night.
